Until today 2021, science still unable to explain how Frozen Shoulder happens.
but, benphysio does.
Because we know how it happens, so we know how to reverse the Frozen Shoulder.
In our clinical experience,
Frozen Shoulder usually takes 3-4months,
(20-30 manual physiotherapy sessions) with outcome at least 70%.
Means, by then, you will have
70% or more full range
forward lift & backward lift.
Of course, by then, the pain has reduced to almost 100%.

Since we know how the frozen shoulder happen,
1st, we will start releasing all the surrounding muscles.
Then we will manually
releasing the scarring on the joint capsule.
The process could be a little pain, as we are breaking the old scars on the capsule.
Capsule is the non chewable whitish-colour structure at the end of the bone when we eat chicken drumstick.
Next, we start to mobilize
the ball bone against the socket joint.
WE promise at least 70% better for all our frozen shoulder.

I have Frozen Shoulder when
I cant turn my ARM outward
I cant lift up my ARM high
I cant hook my bra from behind
I cant Touch N Go or reach parking tickets
I have Pain at night when sleep
I cant sleep on pain side
I feel "catch" during certain movements
I can't hold the arm in certain position long

Typically,
frozen shoulder patient will have pain / numb / discomfort
at the behind of the shoulder joint.

Myth:
Q: Not sure if having Frozen Shoulder or normal shoulder pain?
A: Both shoulder conditions has almost same symptoms, especially when it newly happen.
Q: My MRI of Frozen Shoulder also showing Rotator Cuff tear.
A: That explains that Frozen Shoulder patients normally has past history of shoulder problem.
Q: Should I take anti-inflammatory drugs?
A: Inflammation management is crucial during Stage 1 Frozen Shoulder (Freezing Stage).
Anti-inflammatory drugs help to reduce the inflammation & pain, especially night pain!!

When you involved in repetitive movement such as swimming,
throwing (ball, Frisbee), painting, cleaning
(overhead movement),
Poor Muscle Imbalance
around the shoulder joint
Will cause wear & tear of rotatot cuff tendon.
When wear & tear happen, we cannot move our arm as we wish.
We will compensate to move the arm into desired movement,
so that we don't have the pain.

Do we know if we compensate?
WON'T!! Only people beside you can tell you.
Prolong compensatory movement due to shoulder pain,
will leads to Frozen Shoulder in future!!
Frozen Shoulder is Compensatory Movement after Shoulder Pain.
Very often, we found that,
whenever someone comes to seek treatment for frozen shoulder,
they do already had some shoulder pain prior to his attack.

Other Similar Problems you may have...
Wry Neck / Acute neck pain |
Symptoms:
Myth: It is not due to the ‘wet pillow’ or ‘wet hair’. It's a problem with your shoulder and neck. Even in pain, slowly turn towards pain site as an exercise. Physio Explanation: When it happens for first time, it can resolve within couple of hours. When it gets severe (recurrent), it takes days to recover. Do not force to turn to pain site, it will cause more pain then relief. BENPHYSIO says: Ice it, while calling us for an appointment. To your surprise, acute neck pain often attack the non-dominant upper limbs. |
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome |
Symptoms:
3 fingers tingling and numb, can be occasionally or constantly. As shown in picture below (middle). Myth: They are TREATABLE. Squeeze ball exercise is WRONG! It will worsen the condition and increase numbness. BENPHYSIO says: They are not just elbow, wrist and thumb problems. Manual therapy on the right spot, with the right diagnosis will ease the symptoms effectively. |
De Quervain Syndrome |
Symptoms:
Pain / ache at the thumb during movement. Pain attacks during night time indicates acute inflammation. Medication may be needed. Location of pain, as shown in picture below (left). Myth: Only attack mothers with new born babies. It's NOT. Anyone can have it. BENPHYSIO says: They are not just wrist and thumb problems. Manual therapy on the right spot, with the right diagnosis will ease the symptoms effectively. |
Trigger Fingers |
Symptoms:
Unable to straighten the finger(s), anytime of the day. As shown in picture on left. Early symptoms appear as difficulty to straighten one of the finger or to make a full grip. Myth: It's not Rheumatoid Arthritis. Science says it is due to narrowing of the 'tendon sheath'.. It can happens at any of the fingers, including the thumb. BENPHYSIO says: They are not just wrist and fingers problems. BENPHYSIO says, it is not the narrowing of the sheath, but it is due to THICKENING of the tendon itself. Thickening of tendon is due to overuse of forearm muscles secondary to daily usage. |
