Shoulder pain happens in everyone.
The prevalence is more higher on your dominant arm.
Shoulder is a ball & socket joint, which is complicated with muscles & ligaments & joint structure (labrum) for stability purpose.
SO, it is challenging to treat your shoulder without proper knowledge & experience.
In your first visit, we make sure you fully understand what is wrong.
WE make you see the immediate result after 1st treatment!!

Shoulder pain, also know as
Rotator Cuff Tear / Injury
Swimmer Shoulder
Shoulder Impingement
Supraspinatus Tear / Impingement
Biceps Tendinitis
All descriptions are describing
The Pain at front shoulder
Mostly in dominant arm, swimmers
Injured tissue such as Rotator cuff muscle,
More specific, Supraspinatus tendon
or Biceps tendon
Due to reduced joints space / impingement,
which can be seen from Xray as well.

Confirm Rotator Cuff Injury, when you have
1. Pain at the front of shoulder, near the bone / Biceps muscle
2. Unable to lift up to switch the lights/fan
3. Unable to tapTouch N Go or retrieve parking tickets
4. Unable to hook or unhook the bra from behind
5. Pain at night when sleep, unable to sleep on pain side
6. Feeling "catch" during certain movements
7. Cannot hold the arm in certain position long
8. Both Neck & shoulder tired very quickly
Early detection and treatment of any shoulder pain is crucial to avoid frozen shoulder in future.

Shoulder impingement/Rotator cuff injury involved in repetitive movement such as swimming, throwing (ball, Frisbee), painting, cleaning (overhead movement).
Shoulder impingement/Rotator cuff is often seen as "reduced joint space in X-Ray".
Sometime, the pain may radiates to outer arm (deltoid area).
It happens most in Dominant arm,
house wives, swimmers, gym doers.
Normally, only lifting up until certain angle causes pain or lowering down the arm is painful/less energy.
You also hook/unhook your bra from behind, WITH PAIN.
All these happen due to Poor Muscle Imbalance around the shoulder joint (the ball & socket joint).
FYI:
If you are doing some exercise such as wall punch, push up, overhead games, please stop right now!!

All these happen due to Poor Muscle Imbalance around the shoulder joint (the ball & socket joint).
- Chest muscles are too stiff until it translates the ball from the socket.
- Muscles behind the shoulder blade are too WEAK to hold the ball in the socket.
- So the treatment basically is release the tight, strengthen the weak.

Other Similar Disorders You may have
Wry Neck / Acute neck pain |
Symptoms:
Myth: It is not due to the ‘wet pillow’ or ‘wet hair’. It's a problem with your shoulder and neck. Even in pain, slowly turn towards pain site as an exercise. Physio Explanation: When it happens for first time, it can resolve within couple of hours. When it gets severe (recurrent), it takes days to recover. Do not force to turn to pain site, it will cause more pain then relief. BENPHYSIO says: Ice it, while calling us for an appointment. To your surprise, acute neck pain often attack the non-dominant upper limbs. |
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome |
Symptoms:
3 fingers tingling and numb, can be occasionally or constantly. As shown in picture below (middle). Myth: They are TREATABLE. Squeeze ball exercise is WRONG! It will worsen the condition and increase numbness. BENPHYSIO says: They are not just elbow, wrist and thumb problems. Manual therapy on the right spot, with the right diagnosis will ease the symptoms effectively. |
De Quervain Syndrome |
Symptoms:
Pain / ache at the thumb during movement. Pain attacks during night time indicates acute inflammation. Medication may be needed. Location of pain, as shown in picture below (left). Myth: Only attack mothers with new born babies. It's NOT. Anyone can have it. BENPHYSIO says: They are not just wrist and thumb problems. Manual therapy on the right spot, with the right diagnosis will ease the symptoms effectively. |
Trigger Fingers |
Symptoms:
Unable to straighten the finger(s), anytime of the day. As shown in picture on left. Early symptoms appear as difficulty to straighten one of the finger or to make a full grip. Myth: It's not Rheumatoid Arthritis. Science says it is due to narrowing of the 'tendon sheath'.. It can happens at any of the fingers, including the thumb. BENPHYSIO says: They are not just wrist and fingers problems. B.E.N.PHYSIO says, it is not the narrowing of the sheath, but it is due to THICKENING of the tendon itself. Thickening of tendon is due to overuse of forearm muscles secondary to daily usage. |
